Claire Brook was born and raised in Yorkshire, England. She graduated from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh Scotland with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry with honors in 1998. After graduation, she moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where she earned a Masters degree in 2002, and a doctorate in Chemistry with an emphasis in Biochemistry in 2004 from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. Her thesis title was “The Kinetics of Iron Removal From Human Serum Transferrin by Diphosphonates and Phosphonocarboxylate Ligands.” Prior to joining Covidien in St. Louis as a Senior Research Chemist in R&D. Claire held an industrial postdoctoral position with Novus International in St. Charles Missouri. In her current role, she is responsible for developing and validating peptide methods and working on some small molecules. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering at the St. Louis Science Center.
