Commissioning and qualification of facilities, utilities, and equipment in a manufacturing environment is a multi-team and labor intensive project. Differences in designs, vendors, and the level of risk associated with the facility, equipment, or utility being qualified can lead to a mired qualification process. Furthermore, the technical nature of some of the equipment; including dilution systems, fluid flow devices, and control instrumentation; can baffle operators without an engineering background. All of these factors can lead to late, over-budget, and non-compliant projects.
The following are a series of images from the Journal of Validation Technology and the Journal of GXP Compliance that can help operators conceptualize the commissioning and qualification process as well as visualize some of the facilities, equipment, and utilities that would undergo said process.
